Simple Sample

Sound-reactive Light Installation at „Zero Abend Film und Musik“, Akademie der Künste Berlin, 2015

„Simple Sample“ is an about meter square diffusive panel lit up by RGB-LEDs controlled by a self design circuit and software. In random intervals, a (sound-)signal is sampled and its information converted into the light output signal, which is updated about 1000 times per second.

For the event, sound generated by Düsseldorf artist „Pyrolator“ was used to control the object. The usage of the techincal „sample“ is in a different way, as for correct reproduction, a regular interval of sampling is required. „Simple“, as used in the title, refers to the simple, non-predictable software routines.
