South Congregational Church 16,11

Lightinstallation at Residency Unlimited, New York, 2012

The space was transformed through the usage of colored light. As the former church offers numerous fixtures to light both floor and ceiling, coloured bulbs were installed, replacing the regular white. The space mostly stayed „as-is“, just a bit more empty than usual. The lower floor was cleared out, and upstairs everything had been hidden in the office rooms. Half of the audience walked in from the street, as the front door was open. Neighbours who knew the building for years were surprised to see it in a new light.

Micro Cloud

During an excursion to the Flux Outpost in Aarhus, Danemark, I made a video projection onto a wooden cloud using a microscope and selected shells and seaweed from the Aarhus seaside. The cloud being the projection surface as a jump from the big to the small gets texturised by the microscopic images, working the opposit way, making the small very big.

As a part of a student group show of KHM’s Mischa Kuball, i hung an sun-died artprint of magritte’s “ceci n’est pas une pipe” and guarded it just like the real thing would have been treated. It was less of an hint on the original vs. copy discussion as putting out the question wether these kind of magritte’s paintings needed to be shown as an original in the first place.

In an empty shop window, two different realities are combined: One taking place in the TV, showing a youtube-clip of the longest outdoor model train ride. The other is seen in the back of the shop, real model train tracks. When the train in the TV dissapears in a tunnel, the screen goes blank and a train is taking one round in the shop, with the video continuing after the real train is gone again. A collaboration with Michael Schmitt. And here is some video documentation:
